These are ACEO size cards (2.5 x 3.5 inches) done in graphite and white charcoal on half tone paper spray mounted to a medium weight card stock.
I recently did a larger piece and realized just how much I like working with these materials. So I decided to do some smaller pieces the same way.
This is my Lord of Atlantis portrait.
I proposed a challenge to my art guild. Each month, I pick a theme and the membership creates at least 1 ACEO card with that theme. At the meetings, we all show our cards and pick the top 9. They are framed together and sold as a set at our shows. When we get 12 done, the guild will make a calendar.
ACEO stands for “art cards, editions and originals. ” They are also called artist trading cards. These are miniature pieces of art measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches.
The current theme is "Christmas Ornament".
The theme for November was "Tea" and this was my submission.
I choose this theme because the Guild is meeting for the next couple of months in a newly established tea house called Open Door Tea. The owner shows local art on the walls and I though this would be a nice thank you for allowing us to use the space for our meetings.
BTW, when she saw the entries, she was thrilled.
